For me it is
a true joy seeing Smiles Foundation grow and mature. As a
mother who gives birth to her child, every step that is taken by
the baby is truly unforgettable and special. "Sonrisas"
for me has a very similar meaning. When this project was conceived
in my heart and came to life through the labour of love filled with
the desire to help the children of the Dominican Republic, every
moment of its growth and development became a true victory.
Results accomplished in
2005 were absolutely wonderful, a 20% increase in the amount of
people treated, compared with the previous year. To me, that
is proof of Mother Teresa's words: "People are angels, but
with only one wing. We can only fly if we hold onto each other and
help one another."
I attribute this year's
success to an incredible team of "Sonrisas" employees, both in Canada
and the Dominican Republic, working together towards the same goal:
making the children's smiles brighter, happier, more confident and
definitely much healthier.
A strong belief in our mission coming from the Foundation's Board of directors made my work much more fulfilling, and challenges were easier to solve with the Board's continuous support.
An excellent group of volunteers made fund raising a reliable source
of income for our expansion and fieldwork.
Our donors and supporters in Canada, Europe, the United States,
and the Dominican Republic once again came through for us, proving
that together we can turn any dream into a reality.
Thank you for your generous support in making "Sonrisas" stronger and better every year!
All parents want to see their children grow up into healthy and confident adults. We can make that wish come true by joining our forces and working together for a bright tomorrow!
